Rise of European Basketball-The rise of European basketball was due in large part to the competitive nature of the Soviet Union during the Cold War. The Soviets trained hard in an attempt to unseat Americans as the basketball alse powerhouse. When the Soviet Union began to dissolve in the late 20th century, several newly founded countries created their own national basketball teams. Nations such as Lithuania and Serbia became successful in the sport of basketball. In my page, I discuss the rise of Russian basketball during the Cold War, the addition of aof the Soviet Union, the spread across Western Europe, and impact European players in the NBA today.
